Meeting Christ in a Coma: Treonta's Story — Then God Moved

Meeting Christ in a Coma: Treonta’s Story

Treonta, 29, Texas, USA

In 2012, I encountered the Lord while in a coma. I was living at a homeless shelter in Plano, Texas at the time, but was heading to Houston for the weekend with my boyfriend. He picked me up from the shelter and I almost immediately fell asleep. Traffic was light, so he decided to get in the fast lane…then the car broke down.

He got out and called the police, but it was too late: another car crashed into ours, with me in it. The car flew about 200 feet up the highway and flipped over. When my boyfriend got to me, I was seizing. I continued seizing until we got to the hospital, where I was put into a coma.

On my third day in the coma, I had what I can only describe as an out-of- body experience. I saw my father sitting to my left, crying and begging God to wake me up. Later that day, I also saw what appeared to be an angel; she wore a bright white robe, had hair like mine, and just stood there, watching over me.

On the fifth day, the Lord told me what had happened; He said I’d been in a bad car accident, but that I was going to be okay. On the sixth day, He appeared to me in my hospital room, behind a canvas. He kept peeking at me as He painted and when I asked why, He said “Because I know the plans I have for you.” He said that there were times He’d told me to go right and I’d gone left, but that He was still going to bring me back. He was painting a new path!

I believed in God before, but this blew my mind. I’d never felt so close to Him and honestly, I didn’t want to leave. I later found out that the doctors had tried to bring me out of the coma three times, but they’d failed. On the eighth day, they took me off of life support — and I woke up!

While I was still recovering, God called me to share my story. He specifically told me to tell my loved ones not to wait until they’re facing death to turn to Him. We don’t all get dramatic wake up calls; let mine be a lesson for you!

The Lord created you on purpose — not just with purpose, ON purpose. It was an intentional act. So even if you turn left like I did, God is still watching and loving you. Turn to Him…let Him paint a new path!

“For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” -Romans 8:38-39
