Miracle on a Delta Flight: Savannah’s Story

Savannah, 29, Georgia, USA
Doubting whether God hears your prayers? I have a story tor you.
A few months ago, I was on my way to the airport for work (I’m a flight attendant). I was saying my normal morning prayer: “Thank you Lord for keeping me safe, thank you for the health of my friends and family,” that sort of thing. But then I felt led to pray that I’d be a light for someone that day. I just felt in my gut that that’s what needed to happen. So I prayed as if the Lord had already answered me: “Thank you for allowing me to be a light for someone today, thank you that I am a light.” I was praying persistently, DEEP in the Spirit. I just couldn’t let go of the thought.
I got to work, boarded my flight, and all was well. But as I was working, serving snacks and all of that, I came across a grumpy old man in the back of the plane. He was clearly in a really bad mood, but as I talked and joked with him, he started loosening up and eventually joined in on the jokes.
When we landed, he came up to me with a smile. To my shock, he said, “Thank you for being a light. Today marks three years since my wife’s death, so I really needed it.” I just stood there staring, so caught of guard. “My wife always taught me to look for light in every situation and today, you were that light.” I mean…wow!
God is on the move every second of every day and we are invited to participate! Don’t pray lazily or half-heartedly — press in and let the Spirit lead you! Don’t be discouraged — I promise you, God is listening.
“But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.” -Jude 20-21
